Grant Description

The project supports WFP, under the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP), to assist malnourished children over a period of 12 months in 140 Primary Health Centers (PHCs) in Khatlon region through provision of specialized nutritious food.

The targeted districts were selected jointly with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population, taking into consideration the high malnutrition rate and the capacity of the public health centers both in terms of human resources and infrastructure.

This is done in order to ensure proper implementation and the possibility of replicating sustainable models in other regions.

While WFP provides the treatment to moderate acute malnourished children, UNICEF will support the cases of severe acute malnutrition at the PHCs and District Therapeutic Feeding centers.
