On March 18, 2002, the Chinese Government granted RMB 1.7 million to the Government of Zambia for the provision of seven FM radio transmitters. The purpose of this project was to expand the broadcasting efforts of seven different provincial cities. It is unclear whether these goods were ever delivered.
Some sources suggest that the value of this grant was $1.365 million. However, for the time being, AidData relies on the RMB 1.7 million value recorded by the Government of Zambia’s Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
