Grant Description

Central obesity is a leading contributing cause of illness and death across the world. Currently available strategies for prevention and treatment of this condition are manifestly inadequate. The research proposed here aims to identify fundamental processes involved in the development of central obesity.

I plan to harness the power of human genetics, fused with deep molecular characterisation of the adipocytes to generate novel insights into the biology of central obesity.

This ‘multi-omics’ approach will provide the basis for more effective preventative and therapeutic approaches that reduce the burden of central obesity and associated disease.
