The University of Bristol Translational Partnership Award 3

The University of Bristol is committed to facilitating culture change in the academic community’s approach to and capability in translation: the TPA has profoundly contributed to that aim.

We funded six early-stage translational projects, launched an ECR translational fellowship, delivered sector-leading training on translation, and established a Translational Research Hub as a single access point to coordinate our support. We are conducting cutting-edge research to understand the barriers and enablers of translation.

We have radically accelerated culture change and substantially increased translational engagement across our Wellcome-funded portfolio. We need to do more to embed, extend and sustain that culture change. We understand our translational potential and how to expand and innovate into TPA3.

We will provide translational funding and training beyond our Wellcome-portfolio and across all career stages to enrich our extensive pipeline of projects, leveraging external expertise including the TPA network. We will build on modality-specific strengths through innovation networks. We will exploit MR Base alongside other assets to catalyse early-stage therapeutic development.

TPA3 will produce a step change in the support we provide for culture change and enable us to implement the business plans to make that support sustainable.
