Grant Description

This thesis will address a major gap in the UK academic literature on domestic abuse.

As such, it has significant potential to influence and inform organisational policy and the development of resources for this population of women nationally, as well as pastoral and therapeutic support at the local level.

The focus will be on exploring the post-abuse recovery process for Christian women survivor victims who have experienced domestic abuse; and to be able to understand how these women interact with and experience both faith-based and secular domestic abuse support organisations.

Some of the learning gained may be helpful in making sense of the experience of women survivors of other, non-Christian faiths and/or other types of interpersonal abuse.
