Grant Description

Activity1: The Thai Veterinary Medical Association, collaborating with OIE, FAO and IICA organized the 2011 International Conference on Veterinary Science in Bangkok from October 26-28, 2011. At the conference knowledge on animal disease control and food security was shared and discussed.

Funds were used to support an APHIS booth at the conference to promote prevention and control of avian influenza in the region.

Activity 2: From January 1820, 2012, the Thai National Institute of Animal Health (NIAH) organized the Workshop on Laboratory Biorisk Management in Bangkok. This workshop is one of three collaboration projects between NIAH and APHIS Bangkok.

The workshop was attended by 42 Thai participants including veterinarians and scientists from NIAH, seven Regional Veterinary Research and Development Centers, the OIE Regional Reference Laboratory for Foot and Mouth Disease in Southeast Asia in Pakchong, and the Bureau of Quality Control of Livestock Products.
