In order to design a training program that met the needs of Vietnam, additional site visits and meetings with officials were necessary. These activities are proposed as Phase 1 of a comprehensive training program.
Meetings with officials identified the most appropriate audience for both train-the-trainer programs and trainings with provincial and district emergency response personnel.
Additionally, these meetings helped determine the size of the audience, number of programs, and best locations for the events.
Site visits helped the team understand the full range of depopulation, disposal and decontamination practices currently being implemented.
Depopulation Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on the team observed all depopulation equipment and methods currently being used in Vietnam to manage the ASF outbreak. Disposal SMEs should investigate all disposal methods in a wide variety of geographic and hydrologic settings.
