In 2016 this initiative continued with the same team, training an additional 4 counties namely, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Belize and Turks and Caicos.
To minimize cost and to integrate the use of new technology available each country received: a Weevil Kit containing sample of (died and preserved) Weevils; laminated Red Palm Weevil Identification cards; one DinoLite USB Microscope (from the 2015 budget); and laminated detail instructions for access and use of the DinoLite USB Microscope.
Additionally the APHIS IS Trinidad Office, from its 2015 trapping trails in Trinidad, was able to design, build and supply these 4 countries with Red Palm Weevil Bucket traps, and supply pheromone and food bait lures to these countries to conduct their surveillance trapping for 1-year.
