Grant Description

The United Nations and U.S. government agencies coordinated actions to manage fall army worm (FAW) on the African continent.

More than 28 countries across Africa have confirmed the presence of FAW including most SADC member states (except for Lesotho and Mauritius). Collective efforts are already underway.

In order to support FAW early warning, surveillance and monitoring activities in affected countries in the Southern African Region, APHIS provided funds for the purchase of trapping materials, training on surveillance data collection and monitoring visits to targeted countries.
