Grant Description

Zoning is recognized worldwide as an integral component for control of avian diseases, including both Highly-Pathogenic Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease.

This workshop is designed for mid-career avian health regulatory officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and includes the participation of avian health lecturers/subject matter experts from avian health regulatory agencies in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

The workshop will provide a platform for regulatory officials from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States to share their practical experiences in development and implementation of avian disease surveillance and/or zoning programs.

This will provide an opportunity for ASEAN officials to meet and exchange experiences regarding the practical implementation of effective zoning strategies for avian diseases.

The primary objective of the workshop is to increase understanding and utilization of zoning as disease control strategy for avian diseases, consistent with principles of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code. Supportin
