Two officers from Japans MAFF Animal Quarantine Inspection Service completed a 10-week detector dog training at APHIS, PPQs Georgia National Detector Dog Training Center.
IS-Tokyo coordinated the technical and administrative request between the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the National Detector Dog Training Center to meet MAFFs deadline of completing the course by the end of 2011.
After completing the training, the officers and their dogs were assigned to the newly expanded Tokyo Haneda International Terminal.
The National Detector Dog Training Center staff extended boarding and care of the three candidate dogs to qualify two of them as rabies-free for export to Japan after the completion of the training
