APHIS is leading a project to develop an application that captures and maps poultry production areas in Ecuador with finer granularity. This project analyzes specific production zones based on commodity.
Map tools will be developed to identify risk based on proximity to migratory bird pathways, and will include the ability to document the level of biosecurity on farms and backyard production facilities.
This projectwill serve as the foundation for an overall surveillance plan for poultry diseases and assist Ecuador's effort to be recognized as free of avian influenza.
