APHIS supported the International Training Program in Tropical Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases in Animals in Thailand.
This effort supported capacity building of international veterinarians on surveillance and diagnosis of Tropical Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases in Animals.
APHIS Bangkok collaborated with the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University (CU) and Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affair in organizing the International Training Program in Tropical Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases in Animals in Bangkok from November 12-December 3, 2012.
On November 12, 2012 APHIS Bangkok attended the opening ceremony of the training which was funded through the Dept. of State Biological Engagement Program.
There were 15 participants from 14 countries including Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Egypt, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Samoa and Suriname.
The instructors were from CU, Department of Livestock Development, Ministry of Public Health, US-CDC and US Armed Forces Research Insti
