Under the USDA/FAS programs supporting Plant Health and SPS strengthening in Pakistan, APHIS is providing significant technical assistance in the form of a long-term technical advisor stationed in Pakistan and subject matter experts who are providing specific expertise in the development of a series of educational modules addressing different Plant Health issues which comprise a Plant Health Safeguarding System.
These training modules will be used to train Pakistan plant health officials in order to consolidate and strengthen essential knowledge and skills necessary to the function of a Plant Protection and Quarantine System in Pakistan.
Texas A&M University under agreement with USDA/FAS is developing a series of on-line training modules for Pakistan plant health officials, and worked on the first 3 during 2012, 1: Standard Setting and the IPPC 2: Market Access Process and 3: The WTO SPS agreement. The workshops are scheduled for January, 2013 and June 2013. .
