Grant Description

The absence of a harmonized regional management of surveillance and control of the major TADs, the need to sustain epidemio-surveillance systems and the existence of a Regional Animal Health Centre (RAHC) at Bamako in charge of coordinating all initiatives regarding animal diseases in the region participated to the creation the Regional Network of National Epidemiosurveillance Systems for HPAI and other Priority Animal Diseases in West Africa (RESEPI).

The RESEPI was launched in December 2008 as a recommendation of the workshop entitled validation and implementation modalities of the regional network of national priority animal diseases epidemio-surveillance systems in West Africa: RESEPI, held in Bamako, from December 1 to 5, 2008. Since that date no more activities have been implemented.

The meeting aimed to reactivate and strengthen Disease surveillance of Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs) and the Regional network of national Epidemio-surveillance Systems (RESEPI) in the region. It will be organized in The Gambia, Mali by AFRICOM in collaboration with USDA-APHIS/IS Da
