APHIS and other foriegn national plant protection organizations are developing a data-driven strategy to maximize the effectiveness of port inspections.
The goal of this strategy is to prioritize inspection activities based on risk and detecting a consistent level of infestations.
This strategy takes into consideration pest interception data and rates to determine statistically based sampling protocols.
APHIS is providing training on these methods to assist counterparts from Brazil in enhancing their inspection activities based on risk as well as expedite the clearance of agricultural commodities.
