Grant Description

Plant Pest Identification Training, Herat, Afghanistan.

Conducted an intensive training that provided extensive hands-on experience in a laboratory setting in approaching identification of unknown pests and diseases of plants.

Provided a series of lectures on the principles of plant disease diagnostics and key needs related to diagnostics, including the development of a plant diagnostic clinic, as well as record keeping methodology.

Provided a complete set of training materials that may be reviewed and customized by Afghan personnel for development of DAIL offices.

Developed contacts with MAIL Plant Protection staff so they will be comfortable asking for support related to their programs.
