Following the detection of Tuta absoluta in tomato fields in Haiti in 2018, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Agriculture issued a pest alert and requested support from the Regional International Organization for Plant Protection and Animal Health (OIRSA) with the preparation of an early detection and emergency control/containment plan for the pest.
APHIS and OIRSA are supporting the Dominican Republic's plan to increase phytosanitary actions for exclusion and early detection, outreach, and diagnostics, among others.
