From May 21-28, The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), International Technical and Regulatory Capacity Building (ITRCB) Center coordinated with Colorado State University and APHIS National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) in Fort Collins, Colorado to complete the Wildlife Disease Monitoring and Management Course.
The objectives of the Wildlife Disease Monitoring and Management course were to provide an international audience of wildlife management officials with the tools to effectively design and implement disease monitoring and management plans; how to implement best practices in diagnostic samples including biosafety protocols, field methods for collecting samples from wildlife species, biosafety and biosecurity protocols in sample handling and storage, compliance with international shipping requirements, diagnostic test selection, interpretation of diagnostic test results, and compliance with reporting standards.
