U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA): Civil Enforcement & Enforcement Training - International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE)

Cooperative Agreement with the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development to plan / develop / deliver / conduct INECE International Conferences that further the revised INECE Strategic Implementation Plan; cover current and critical issues in environmental compliance and enforcement; and respond to the expressed needs of the 150 member countries of INECE.

The 8th INECE Conference was conducted in South Africa in April 2008 and built upon the results of the 7th INECE Conference conducted in Marrakech Morocco in April 2005 and on INECE projects already managed by IGSD, such as compliance and enforcement indicators, emissions trading, the "Principles of Environmental Enforcement" training, increased awareness of compliance and enforcement, developing networks for enforcement cooperation, strengthening capacity to implement and enforce environmental requirements, and other cooperative efforts to strengthen environmental compliance and enforcement.

The INECE Secretariat is in the initial planning phase for the 9th INECE Conference which will be held in a developing country in either late 2010 or early 2011. For more information on the INECE Conferences visit: www.inece.org
