Grant Description

Cooperative Agreement with the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development to plan / develop / deliver / conduct an international conference that furthers the revised INECE Strategic Implementation Plan; covers current and critical issues in environmental compliance and enforcement; and responds to the expressed needs of the 150 member countries of INECE.

The 8th INECE Conference to be conducted in South Africa in April 2008 will build on the results of the 7th INECE Conference conducted in Marrakech Morocco in April 2005 and on INECE projects already managed by IGSD on compliance and enforcement indicators, emissions trading, the "Principles of Environmental Enforcement" training, increased awareness of compliance and enforcement, developing networks for enforcement cooperation, strengthening capacity to implement and enforce environmental requirements, and other cooperative efforts to strengthen environmental compliance and enforcement.
