Grant Description

To assess OECD member country progress in sustainable materials management (SMM) and develop four pilot projects to explore how the OECD may promote the use of SMM concepts and practices in the private sector and across member countries.

This effort will identify areas for further work in promoting waste reduction, use of waste as potential resources, and increased recycling and recovery of materials for the purpose of resource conservation and the reduction of virgin material extraction.

In addition, this funding will support necessary revisions to the OECD agreement on transboundary movements of waste and its accompanying guidance manual.
