This phase II project will expand on an already existing project to combat child labor in the carpet sector in two districts in the province of Punjab.

The projects aim is to continue to reduce child labor in the carpet sector through work place monitoring and provision of alternatives to children withdrawn or prevented from entering exploitative work conditions. In phase II, additional districts in Punjab will be covered where child carpet weavers have been identified.

Children working in the carpet sector and their younger siblings will be targeted for prevention and withdrawal from exploitative labor through a range of interventions including rehabilitation services such as education, pre-vocational training, health, recreation and counselling. Families will be provided with income generating alternatives to reduce their reliance on child labor.
