Grant Description

This project will complement the Timebound Program to eliminate the worst forms of child labor in Tanzania.

The Tanzania Child Laborers Program will establish and staff community-learning centers in 11 target districts in Tanzania that have the highest incidence of child labor.

These centers will use Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI) modules designed for children in their first 4-years of schooling.

Students will listen to the IRI modules with a trained mentor, receiving instruction in Swahili, mathematics, English, science, social studies, and essential life skills.

This nonformal education service will cover the equivalent of a full year of instruction for each grade, and instruction will be provided free for children participating in the program.

The program will also include district-specific public awareness campaigns about child labor and the formation of child labor eradi - Through International Labour Organisation.
