Whereas a classical light source emits photons (particles of light) one by one, a quantum light source emits photons in pairs. One of the photon pair can illuminate an object whilst the other is used a check or reference.
This checking means that both sensor noice and back ground light can be eliminated from images, and the each image can be securely authenticated. However, current technology prevents these idea from being fully implemented.
We are working with Andor Technology and e2V Teledyne to adapt their camera technology so that it can be used to sense these photon pairs using Quantum Technology to make better images free of noise or background interference.
