The primary goal of this PhD project is to investigate the emerging issue of work addiction and its associations with mental health outcomes, burnout and overall well-being. By identifying vulnerable populations and exploring socio-demographic
factors, psychopathological correlates, prevalence rates, and well-being factors such as life satisfaction, job satisfaction, and
work-life balance, this project seeks to comprehensively understand work addiction's impact on individuals' functioning and
quality of life. This research aligns closely with the ESRC's thematic focus on enhancing welfare, health, and well-being. Given the increasing global prevalence of work addiction and its pervasive impact on individuals and communities
worldwide, this research aims to offer valuable insights for informing future interventions and policy considerations aimed at
promoting well-being and mitigating adverse effects on both individual and collective levels. Leveraging my expertise in
psychology, finance, and technology, the project will take an open-science perspective and employ cutting-edge quantitative methods, including network analysis with machine learning techniques such as fused graphical lasso (FGL), confirmatory
factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) to unravel the intricate dynamics underlying work addiction's impact on individual and collective well-being. This PhD project will be conducted in a multidisciplinary collaborative
environment, leveraging the expertise of leading researchers in the field (Professor Mark Griffiths and Dr Pawel Atroszko).
