This project aims to quantify the mechanical and structural characteristics of oral extracellular matrix. We will quantify tissue
response at multiple post-injury time points using multiscale experimental biomechanics methods. We will closely collaborate
with leading researchers in oral and skin biology at the Blizard Institute. The project will use state-of-the-art computational
modeling techniques and leverage the knowledge from experiments to test the contribution of alternative microenvironmental
cues towards determining specific healing outcomes. This information will be relevant in view of explaining oral vs. skin tissues' peculiar scarring phenotypes.
