The aim of the project is to design artificial intelligence systems to optimise new,
ultra-thin endoscopes used to image diseases such as cancer in hard-to-reach areas of the body (e.g. the pancreas and ovaries). The endoscope is based on multimodal fibre which can suffer from optical distortion, therefore advanced computational techniques are required to reconstruct the images to allow medical professionals to make informed decisions in real-time.
