Working collaboratively with leading Welsh housing and homelessness charity Shelter Cymru, this study will examine the role of independent housing legal advice in enabling access to housing justice for people at risk of homelessness in Wales. This project will employ a mixed methodological approach, integrating innovative linkage and analysis of Shelter Cymru's administrative data with exploratory qualitative methods.
Early ethical considerations have focused on two main priorities. First, using administrative data raises key questions about a) security of the data, b) confidentiality of information contained in the data, c) permission to use data for research purposes, and d) appropriate use of the data by the researchers. Working through ADR Wales and the SAIL databank provides reassurances for many of these issues, however these will be key considerations for Eugene and the collaborative team to consider.
Second, the research will involve qualitative research with potentially vulnerable adults. This raises important training and safeguarding issues - all of which will be considered carefully in the refinement of the student project.
