Processing Infinite Data Streams

The objective of this PhD research proposal is to determine the power and limitations of sliding window algorithms for processing massive data sets.

While the research literature on the 1related data streaming model is heavily developed and streaming algorithms for most fundamental problems are well-understood, the sliding window model has received significantly less attention.

From the perspective of applications, this is particularly unsatisfactory since, as discussed above, the sliding window model is often the more suitable model when considering continuously growing massive data sets.
