The PhD project focuses on avalanche photodiodes, which are high-performance optical detectors of near-infrared optical signals. The project builds on the research group's activities on infrared single photon avalanche diodes over the past decade. The focus will be on single photon avalanche diodes using AlGaAsSb and/or InP avalanche layers.
The project will include designing experiments and carrying out experiments, to obtain relevant characteristics of devices. Data analyses will include device simulations and comparisons with other technologies. In addition, there will be device fabrication activities to producesuitable samples for the experiments.
