Grant Description

This project will explore three female artistic groups practising in 1970s Italy: Cooperativa Beato Angelico, Donne/Immagine/Creatività and Le Nemesiache. The study is grounded in the context of Italian feminism, which emphasised cultural frameworks based on the female experience. By analysing the groups' reconfiguration of

myth, I propose to investigate how these practices reconstructed fundamental narratives, which in turn generated new meanings. By navigating through these queries, the research will add new insights into the intersections of feminism, mythology and the transformative potential of creating new cultural orders.
