Grant Description

Methods of making aspects of ourselves "better than well" exist today and novel, more powerful, means to do so are on the horizon. We can better our cognitive abilities, fine-tune the extent/makeup of our emotions, and even,

potentially, make ourselves morally better. All of this is attractive for both personal and societal reasons. But it also comes with notable dangers, even assuming the methods themselves are biologically safe. This project will utilise the methodology of analytic philosophy to evaluate the extent of these dangers and provide concrete and realistic advice

for how to incorporate such methods of "enhancement" into society.
