Active STUDENTSHIP UKRI Gateway to Research

Brain rhythms that serve as the 'binder' for memory and concept formation

Funder Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
Recipient Organization University of Liverpool
Country United Kingdom
Start Date Nov 01, 2024
End Date Oct 31, 2028
Duration 1,460 days
Data Source UKRI Gateway to Research
Grant ID 2933634
Grant Description

The aim the PhD is to understand the role of neural oscillations to combine visual and auditory information during multisensory perception, and the formation of subsequent memories across species.

The student will develop equivalent experimental paradigms combining AV stimuli presentation with electroencephalogram recording in human and non-human primates.

The PhD programme will advance understanding in two species for translating neuroscientific information to humans, and potentially lead to better target brain rhythms with neurostimulation to improve impaired memory.
