Grant ID 2934925
Grant Description

Through expertise in the Chemical Engineering group at Manchester and their familiarity with the Siemens PSE gPROMS modelling software we will build a number of mechanistic/hybrid models describing operations in USP and DSP realted to FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies manufacturing processes.

These mechanistic models once established will be used, amongst other things, to develop a modelling framework to assist in scale up and technology transfer and to offer to clients, an insilico approach to the development of continuous processes based on FDB MaruX from standard fed batch non-continuous processes.

The project will use as a baseline the mAb solutions platform process (ApolloX USP and standard DSP operations including ProteinA, CEX and AEX chromatography, TFF and final filtration as modelling modules for these operations are included in the gPROMS suite.

Data from FDB processes will be used to feed and develop the models which are also expected to be supplemented with information from the Prosperity Partnership project of which Manchester plays a leading role in the AppolloX genome scale model for engineering biology uses.
