Grant Description

This proposal builds upon antimicrobial resistance (AMR) advocacy efforts that the UN Foundation has undertaken in partnership with the Wellcome Trust over the last 10 months.

Enabled by this proposal, the UN Foundation will continue to serve as a trusted source for information, ideas, and exchange surrounding the UN High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) on AMR in September 2024.

With the UN HLM and its political declaration as a fresh point of departure, late summer 2024 through January 2025 are pivotal months to galvanize collective action for AMR.

Significant global convenings in Q4 2024 and Q1 2025 are valuable opportunities to cultivate a shared understanding of what the Political Declaration accomplished and how partners plan to embed its policy objectives in their work.

These months are also critical for evaluating the policy and financing gaps that remain and how they can be addressed moving forward.

The UN Foundation will leverage its multisectoral convening power to support this stock-taking process and collaborate with partners to embark on a new phase of advocacy that sustains political momentum on AMR.
