During Chinese President Jiang Zemin’s visit to Cambodia on November 13, 2000, the Chinese Government and the Government of Cambodia signed at least six agreements, of which one was an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) to give 100 million yuan assistance to Cambodia.
Among this 100 million yuan assistance, 50 million yuan was a grant (as captured in this project), and the remaining 50 million yuan was from an interest-free loan (as captured in linked Record ID#32022).
One official (who spoke on the condition of anonymity) explained that the aid might go help export soybeans to China, bring rice seed to Cambodia, or help facilitate Chinese investment in Cambodian factories.
RMB 45 million was provided for Cambodia's Phase 1 of Steel Bridge Materials Project (as captured in linked Record ID#32037) RMB 5 million went toward Cambodia's Water Well Drilling Project (as captured in linked Record ID#32040)
The CRS sector is coded as 430 - Other Multisector, as to the best of AidData's knowledge, the assistance went to multiple sectors.
