Grant Description

The UN Secretary-General has prioritized mental health as a critical issue for the wellbeing of people around the world and as a pivotal element to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In 2018, he co-convened a roundtable discussion with WHO and Wellcome Trust which resulted in a Global Mental Health Roadmap 2020-2021.

Given the pressing need, this retreat is being convened by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General building on the Secretary-General’s priorities, co-hosted by Wellcome and UN Office for Partnerships and in collaboration with WHO, UNICEF, and OCHA.

Building on these foundations and the continued efforts of the United Nations to accelerate the SDGs and in improving multilateralism to address the pressing issues of today and tomorrow i.e., Pact for the Future and UN 2.0, this retreat will convene key decision-makers and experts from across sectors and regions.

The retreat will host focused, solution-driven dialogues to unite and coordinate multisectoral action and leapfrog mental health outcomes for people in humanitarian settings facing gender-based violence (GBV).

This retreat will serve as an immersive catalyst to align around a shared vision to strengthen partnerships, identify critical gaps and accelerate implementation of scalable evidence-based and innovative mental health solutions for humanitarian settings.
