In 2000, the Chinese government granted $7 million USD (300 million PHP) to the Philippines Department of Agriculture to finance the establishment of the Philippines-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) at Central Luzon State University. PhilSCAT sprawls in an area of ten hectares.
The Center was constructed in 2000 within the campus of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
It consists of administrative building, living quarters of Chinese experts and guests, integrated mechanical testing workshop and showroom, mechanical service workshop, rice post-harvest processing workshop and experimental farm. On March 20, 2003, the completion of the center and handover ceremony was held in Philippines.
This project is linked to phase I of the Technological Cooperation Program (TCP-I) (Record ID#38626), phase II (TCP-II) (Record ID#63877), and phase III (TCP-III) (Record ID#63874). The establishment of PhilSCAT was also financed through the $100 million line of credit captured in Record ID#34701.
