Grant Description

Sector: Rice processing, Beneficiaries: 135 women, Description: SONG TAABA operates in the Sourou Valley where they work in partnership with two local rice producing cooperatives and an NGO that provides cash advances to the rice producers, who then turn over their rice to Song Taaba for par-boilin.

The NGO purchases the final product from Song Taaba minus the cost of the advance originally provided for the rice paddy to sell under a brand name.

Song Taaba women currently lack access to finance to obtain additional paddy, adequate storage facilities for their final parboiled product, and par-boiling equipment to increase their production. , , The proposed project will enable Song Taaba to improve their infrastructure, provide improved processing equipment, increase the working capital for the purchase of paddy rice, and obtain training to increase their productivity and competitiveness to supply good quality parboiled rice and white rice on demand to their main commercial partner and to other clients.
