Original Grant Blurb In the wake of the 2017 earthquakes, Mexico faces unprecedented challenges to secure long-term recovery and to help communities prepare for future natural disasters.

Fundacin Comunidad, A.C. (Comunidad) partners with communities in Morelos impacted by the earthquake to improve food sovereignty and small-business productivity and to mitigate the impact of future natural disasters. At the IAF, we support community-led solutions to expand economic opportunity in Mexico.

Comunidad?s activities further actions that make more resources available to communities seeking to address their own development needs.

This grant is part of our broader initiative to encourage innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to unlock private, public and local resources for grassroots development. This project has been made possible in part by a grant from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Amendment 7 Blurb This amendment provides Comunidad with $140,000 to support grassroots organizations in the state of Morelos with training, technical assistance, exchanges, and subgrants.

This grant will provide funding to Comunidad for its new strategic plan, to reinforce its team in response to rising violence, and to provide subgrants to increase the capacity of grassroots organizations in their community-led initiatives and in addressing the rising violence. This grant is part of IAF?s Community Philanthropy Strategic Initiative.
