Chinese Government provides construction equipment for the rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage infrastructure

On 28 December, 2009, the Chinese Government signed an agreement for the provision of a supply of trucks, tractors, trailers, excavators, valves, and other equipment for the rehabilitation of irrigation and drainage infrastructure located in the Caujerí valley of the Guantanamo province in Cuba.

The initiative will be executed, using part of a donation granted in 2007, and will favor vegetable, grain, and fruit production. The total project cost is estimated to be $1.1 million USD. Loan applications and disbursements are still being received and processed as the projects continue to evolve.

Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are in place to ensure project continuity.
