To support the documentation of northern Ugandan sites that are both sacred and historically significant to the Acholi people and their culture.
After more than two decades of political instability and years spent in camps for Internally Displaced Persons, the Acholi people are beginning to return to their home communities with little or no understanding of the sites that once defined their ancestral community because most of them had either left their home areas as children or had been born while their families were in the camps.
This project involves documentation of culturally significant Acholi sites, the exchange of stories, artifacts, and other information among Acholi elders and other stake holders, and the production of booklets and other durable materials on Acholi sites and traditions.
