Grant Description

To support the documentation of traditional forms of music and dance. During the Soviet period, authentic Moldovan traditions were marginalized and replaced by homogenized music and dance. Traditional performance survived in rural areas, however, particularly during the holidays. Recordings will be used for teaching at the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts.
