Grant Description

To provide proper storage for the textile and embroidery collections at the Shalva Amiranashvili Art Museum in Tbilisi.

The collection includes objects embroidered with gold and silver, and decorated with precious stones, dating from the 19th century.

There are over 5000 pieces in the collection, including ecclesiastical and heirloom objects, many from Georgia, but also from Persian and Byzantine origin. The project will also digitize the inventory, and initiate conservation activities.
