Grant Description

The southern limit of the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom (ca. 1500 BCE), the sacred mountain of Gebal Barkal was the presumed earthly residence of the ancient Egyptian state god, Amon.

This project, which includes conservation planning and treatment at the site museum, directly supports the Embassy's efforts to build mutual trust and cooperative partnerships with the people of Sudan through educational and cultural engagement and exchanges.
