The Otrera project will deliver printed multitouch sensors onto thin, flexible self adhesive substrates for application across a range of customer's products. The sensors will be significantly the lowest-cost method to deliver a fully configurable touch input interface for electronic devices. The innovation is in the materials and processes utilised to produce a thin, multi-laminate, flexible label, on equipment normally used to produce shampoo bottle - or similar - labels at sizes up-to around 55cm at a 4:3 ratio.
The key objective of the project is to develop the printed multiouch sensors, the associated hardware/firmware and development tools, the production processes and testing required to easily produce in high (tens of million units) volume on existing print-industry infrastructure; and to find commercial application across a range of customer's new and future products as by-far the lowest-cost method to deliver a fully configurable interface.
