Grant Description

The African Youth Enterprise Programme (AYEP) is a novel initiative designed to empower young entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa. Recognising the pressing issue of high unemployment, especially among African youth and graduates, the AYEP focuses on providing business skills training and fostering peer support networks.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, where many turn to entrepreneurship for livelihood and societal contribution, aspiring entrepreneurs encounter significant challenges at the start. According to a survey, the primary obstacles include a lack of funding, entrepreneurial skills, and business infrastructure. The AYEP addresses these critical needs, aiming to alleviate poverty and enhance the success and well-being of young African entrepreneurs.

The AYEP distinguishes itself by offering a research-based, accessible, and sustainable alternative to existing training programmes. The initiative ensures the delivery of user-friendly, engaging, and current content tailored to the diverse needs of young entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa at various stages of their journey. The programme also facilitates opportunities for peer support, mentorship, networking, investments, and overall growth, contributing to a more robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.
