The proposed research project is about measuring the energetic costs of shell formation in marine organisms. This is a key parameter to understand how shell forming marine organisms will be able to adapt to the oceans of the future. The expected outcome of this study is a precise and accurate measurement of the amount of energy spent by the shell forming organisms per unit shell.
