Grant Description

A consortium of interdisciplinary research partners led by KTH Lighting Design recently received a grant by NordForsk/Formas to conduct a 4-year research project: “Unconventional methods to inform sustainable design: Mediating the needs of people and nature in Nordic after-dark environments.” Two lighting testbeds are planned to map current conditions and test lighting design interventions.

Complementary consortium partners are: SLU Uppsala, Lund University, Stockholm University, NTNU Ålesund, and Aalto University Helsinki.

This application deepens the understanding of lighting design that simultaneously meets the needs of humans and wildlife in urban neighborhoods, and thereby strengthening the integration and collaboration of both fields, lighting design and environmental psychology. This requires hiring two new PhD students, 50% funded by NordForsk/Formas.
